Brett Farve

Posy by: Claude

Brett Favre should hang up his cleats for good. Im tired of the superstar athlete wearing out his welcome with the American public. I view this from two different perspectives. The first being that if you are going to prolong your career then do so in a manner that does not negatively take away from the team dynamic. I think a great example of this is Dana Stubblefield. He played defensive tackle played for the San Francisco 49ers for more than a decade and then gracefully bowed out of the game he loved with no regrets and no "drama" relating as to wether he would return to "regain" stardom. Even the great Michael Jordan "stayed out past sundown" in relation to his career moving on to the Washington Wizards and essentially tarnishing his career and reputation by continuing a career that had long burned out. Even to this day the last memory that you remember "Mike" by is his last jumper for the Chicago Bulls against the Utah Jazz to win the NBA championship. How many highlights do you see of him as a Wizard? Do not answer that question verbally instead consider the truth to yourself.

The point of this post is not to demean stars that reach end of their careers and continue playing. The point of this blog is to reprimand Brett Favre for taking away from the due process or should I say the essential right of every professional sports organization; which is to proceed after the retirement of a star without the inherent stress of an undue return of an individual whose brightest light has long burned out. Does Aaron Rodgers deserve to "look over his shoulder" after every incomplete pass. Do the viciously loyal Packer faithful have to wonder if Brett is going to return with his always neatly scruff beard at halftime of every game for the next two years? The answer is no Brett Farve should do his ego and the Green Bay Packers a favor and continue fishing the deltas of Mississippi and leave his career where he left it at a hall of fame level.

I mean before his recent revival was he not being reprimanded for his horrid play before last season. Brett Favre does have the honor of holding the all time NFL interceptions record. This may be a testament to how good he was surviving in a cut throat league long enough to break such a record. Brett Favre, you have your super bowl title, you retired on your own terms, and do us all a favor stay retired and let dead dogs lie.
