Week 5 Preview

Big Game Preview

Alabama at Georgia

Who is the best #8 frosh receiver in the SEC? Georgia’s A.J. Green or Alabama’s Julio Jones? Alabama is reviving the memories of Bear Bryant with a stellar beginning to the '08 year behind second year coach Nick Saban. Georgia is an established power behind the smooth running of Knowshon Moreno and the monster arm of Matt Stafford. This showdown Saturday will have huge SEC and National Title implications for both teams. Look for Georgia to win a close one at home.

Colorado at FSU

Colorado is 3-0 after a huge win at home last week versus West Virginia. Florida State is off to another so-so season after losing to Wake Forest for the third straight time last week. Florida State returned 6 possible defensive starters that were suspended because of the highly publicized study hall scandal. If Florida State can muster any offense, the game will be better than advertised with their stellar defense. However, Colorado could make a statement that they are a serious contender for the Big 12 North title if they win at Doak Campbell. I think that FSU will win this one behind the strength of their defense.

TCU at Oklahoma

The last time the Horned Frogs ventured north to Norman, they beat the Sooners. Oklahoma will enact revenge in a major way. Look for the Sooners to blow out TCU after a tight one early.

Virginia Tech at Nebraska
Nebraska is off to an undefeated start blowing away a weak non-conference schedule up until this point. First year head coach Bo Pelini will have a masterful game plan to thwart the attack of Tyrod Taylor and the Hokies at home in Lincoln. I’m calling an upset, as the Cornhuskers will win by 3.

Illinois at Penn State

The Nittany Lions will put the squeeze on Juice Williams and the Illini by two touchdowns in a
nationally televised game in Happy Valley. Penn State is way better than advertised and should disseminate the Illini in short order.

Maryland at Clemson

Maryland, after a slow start, is beginning to turn heads behind a potent running game led by Da’Rel Scott. Clemson has been down since they got their ass handed to them by Alabama at the beginning of the season. I don’t know who to call in this one. This is my toss up game of the week. I feel like this one could go either way.
